The term nerd is a double edged sword. It used to denote skinny little boys with thick glasses, knobby knees and a love of dungeons and dragons. Now it more accurately describes the ceo’s and engineers that populate SF and surrounding areas. They are pretty wealthy by this point. All the better for their D and D RPG (stands for Dungeons and Dragons Role Play Game, which I was blissfully unaware of until last night). Nerd Nite SF!
This tall drink of water is one of the organizers and they did a fab job. I learned about shibboleths, dark energy and crossword puzzles! Dark energy was my favorite by far. Who knew that the universe was not only infinite but expanding and contracting simultaneously? Possibly. They still don’t know for sure.
This was the chick who spoke. She was great. And only had a mild eye tick. Really, it added to the effect. There was also grilled cheese to order, supplied by the Grilled Cheez Guy and hosted by Rickshaw Stop which is named for the fault line the bar is built on. I even learned a little about Emperor Norton, self dubbed Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico.
This SF native made proclamations and the people of SF loved him. SF loves it’s weirdos. Although there were some super nerds in the house who couldn’t stop their overabundance of information from exploding out of their mouths and yelled at the speakers, it was still a great time. A little bit nerd is a good thing.
